National Doctoral Program Survey
Over 32,000 graduate students and recent Ph.D.'s responded to a
survey on the web, related to educational practices in doctoral
programs. Responses were indicated using a four-point Likert scale.
A letter grade based on a point system indicates the quality of
the program.

National
Research Council-Doctorate Programs in the United States
Covers 3,634 programs at over 270 institutions in 41 fields. The
rankings are based on reputational measures collected through the
use of a survey and program characteristics. Programs are ranked
in broad disciplinary areas according to the "average rating
of the scholarly quality of program faculty." The rankings
are based on a five-point scale ranging from 0 to 5, with 0 signifying
"not sufficient for doctoral education" and 5 signifying
"distinguished." This site also provides an individualized
ranking based on importance of criteria, selected by the user.

Week Best B-Schools - 2000
The rankings use two main surveys to determine results. The first,
a 39-question student-satisfaction survey was sent to over 9,500
graduates at 651 top schools. Completion of the survey was either
by paper or the Internet. The response rate was 63%. The second
survey focused on recruiters attitudes about MBA programs. A total
of 350 company's recruiters were polled with a 74% response rate.

on 20 criteria. In total, 20,700 questionnaires were sent out, of
which 5,918 were returned, a response rate of 28.6 percent.

Reputation surveys are mailed to departmental deans, associate deans,
and a nationwide random sample of school superintendents in districts
with over 5000 students. US News gathers the statistical and reputational
data by surveying programs and academics and professionals.

Guide to Business Schools (E-book)
An online interview was conducted with 1,600 corporate recruiters
who were asked to rate 188 US and 56 non-US business schools on
27 different attributes. In addition to the overall ranking, the
guide ranks public and private schools, the top schools by region,
the top large and small schools, the top schools on top attributes,
schools that are "hidden gems" and business schools by
industry.
